Welcome to the Portage Inn - Bed & Breakfast and Lakefront Cottages

Situated between tall pines and overlooking beautiful Peninsula Lake, the historic inn was built in 1889 by J.G. Henderson and was a popular stopping point for travellers on horse-drawn wagon, until the birth of the smallest commercially operated railway in the world. The "Portage Flyer" ran on narrow-gauge rails directly by the Inn on the trip between South Portage on Lake of Bays and North Portage on Peninsula Lake. The Inn has 6 meticulously decorated rooms, which feature a gentle blending of antique furnishings with modern amenities. All rooms have private bathrooms, and some have whirlpool tubs and fireplaces.

A hearty breakfast with fresh local produce is served daily from 8:30AM till 10AM , with a spectacular view of the lake. (Breakfast is available for cottage renters for an additional charge.)

Bed & breakfast guests can enjoy our lounge area, which features a massive double-sided stone fireplace and century-old wide plank floors. Mingle with other guests, have a game of billiards or snuggle up with a good book. For the ultimate indulgence, immerse yourself in our indoor hot tub. Wireless high-speed internet is available for guests. Please note that cottage guests do not have access to hot tub or lounge area in main lodge.
